30/10/2018 0 Comments October 2018 Movie/TV Round-UpAfter making little changes to my content in the past month, I've decided to also start writing monthly round-ups about movies and TV series that I've loved during a particular month. You can find mini reviews on the Mild Brown Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts. This month I'll be discussing A Star is Born, Friends and more! the week of (2018)In this Netflix original, Kenny Lustig (Adam Sandler), a middle-class husband and father of three, tries to pay for his eldest daughter's wedding even though he can barely afford it. Kirby Cordice (Chris Rock), a heart surgeon and father of the groom, is more than willing to pay for the wedding. The movie follows the week leading up to the wedding, and Kenny's mission to make the event special and host both sides of the family. The plot is quite slow and for a great portion of the movie, I felt like I was watching just to finish it. It was a good depiction of the chaos family brings around special occasions. The ending was pretty wholesome as well. a star is born (2018)Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) is a well-known country singer who meets Ally (Lady Gaga) at a local bar after playing a gig in town. Jackson sees the potential Ally has and encourages her to follow her passion for music. As things get better career-wise for Ally, Jackson's struggle with substance abuse intensifies. This film definitely lived up to its hype or me. The acting and directing take the audience on an emotional rollercoaster with Jackson and Ally, and at the end, I found myself really invested in the characters. The movie didn't shy away from portraying real-life hardships in relationships and the dark side of the entertainment industry, which I felt added so much depth to the film. friends (Seasons 4 & 5)I actually only started watching Friends around August this year and have enjoyed every second of it! I love how relatable the situations in the characters' lives can be, especially when it comes to their love lives, eg.) how hard it can be to get over a break up, falling in love with someone who loves someone else etc. The show also makes you feel like you're a seventh, onlooking friend after watching the episodes religiously everyday. It's a show that has definitely lived up to its hype and has actually lifted my mood in times of anxiety and sadness. Written by: Vidal Thaver
