28/2/2019 0 Comments February 2019 Movie/TV Round-UpMy review of movies and TV shows I've watched this past month including The Office, Instant Family and more! Instant Family (2018)Based on a true story, married couple Pete (Mark Wahlberg) and Ellie (Rose Byrne) Wagner consider adopting a child. After meeting 15 year old Lizzy at a fair hosted by the adoption agency, the couple decide to adopt her. Though, adopting her meant adopting her two other siblings: Juan and Lita as well. A heart-warming movie about family, love and adoption. I think it's so important to make films like this about topics like adoption and the struggles that both the parents and children endure. The movie subtly brings up stereotypes about adoption and addresses them head-on. The office (Us) - seasons 4, 5 & 6I did mention in the introduction that binging had to take a bit of a backseat this month, but then me watching nearly three seasons (each of 26 episodes) is kind of contradictory. The Office is basically the only form of television I consume at this point. I watch at least one episode every single day and it's borderline unhealthy. I'm nearly at the end of season 6 - season 7, 8 and 9, here I come! Buying the boyfriend experience in Japan (2018)This short, 19-minute documentary by Vice on YouTube seeks to understand the evolving culture of singledom in Japan. From being able to hire someone to cry with to paying someone to cuddle with you, the needs of single Japanese women sound strange but there is no shortage of services being offered by men to meet their needs. Watch it here: The kid (1921)As a film student, I have prescribed movies that I must watch per semester. The Kid was the first film we had to watch this semester. This was Charlie Chaplin's first full-length movie and is about an orphan boy who is taken in by Charlie's character. Written by: Vidal Thaver
