We've all had plenty of days where we jet to Google to search for the definition of something, but end up lurking on a random website hours later. Last year I had one of those days and stumbled across the url of Greyscale - a fairly new fashion and style blog owned by Carla Fortuin. I asked her a few questions about herself and her experience as a blogger:
Hey everyone! My name is Carla and I am a movement teacher based in Cape Town, South Africa. I teach Dance full-time for the Western Cape Education Department - which means I teach it as a subject within the school system. Trust me, it’s a lot less glamorous than it sounds! I am also a Yoga Alliance certified teacher.
V: Why did you decide to start blogging?
C: I decided to start blogging because I enjoy writing and sharing stories with others. My interest and love of fashion & styling (and some excess creative energy) led me to create my personal style blog, Greyscale.
V: What are your ambitions as a blogger?
C: Well, seeing [that] I am very new to blogging, my goal for 2017 is just to grow my blog and readership. I hope to connect with many different types of women. (And men, if they are interested in reading!)
V: What has been your experience as a blogger thus far?
C: As I mentioned before, this blogging thing is still very new to me - I only started my blog in November of last year. The biggest fear/ challenge I’ve had thus far is just starting! So often we doubt ourselves and put things off in fear of what others will think or say. So for me, finally getting off my [butt] was an accomplishment. I am learning along the way.
V: What are the plans for your blog?
C: I will try my hand at creating some Youtube content in addition to the blog. (Eeeek!!!) It will never see the light of day if I am not happy with it though, and eventually I’d like to broaden the content on my blog to include my other areas of interest as well.
V: What's the motto you live by?
C: Show up. Deliver your best. Be authentic.
V: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
C: I’m not one who has all my plans sorted and boxes ticked where this is concerned. I’m [more of] a ‘let’s see what happens organically’ kind of girl. All that I know is, I am excited to see where this journey takes me in the next 5 years.
I love Carla's blog so far which is predominately why I wanted to interview her. I wish her all the best with her blog for the rest of 2017.
Peace and love,
